Mixed Media Collage | 6” x 6” | 2021

This collage is part of the We Are Still Here series, created in January and February of 2021. These collages were created, one each day, for thirty days, in the spirit of meditation and exploration. Collage was my preferred method of creation through most of my time in art school and this project started with the intention of revisiting past ways of making work and shaking things up in general. The majority of these pieces contain colors and bits from a stack of my Grandmother’s 1970’s art magazines that I was given just before starting this series.

The words We Are Still Here became my mantra as I let my creative practice ground me in my experience; turning the calendar page away from a ground-shaking year while parenting my young son through the short days of our first Michigan Winter.
