Working to merge the present moment with the history of all time.

Fall/Winter 2024

Astro Map Ordering 2024 is OPEN!!!

These commissioned paintings are one of a kind works of art based on the astrological chart of a moment of your choosing. Each Astro Map Painting is created intuitively and with intention. Each Astro Map comes with a reference chart as well as a basic reading!

Making Astro Maps is a methodical and intentional experience for me, from the moment I cast your chart, until I am wrapping it up to ship. These original paintings are made with water based mixed media on 140 lb. cold press watercolor paper.

This is a PRE_ORDER and all art will ship by the end of February 2025!

…& Flowers

It's official! I am making the jump to taking floral gigs as an independent florist : ) It has been a long and winding road to this point, but it finally feels right to transition from word-of-mouth to actual self-promotion in the world of flowers! Please check out my gallery of floral delights. I'm currently booking for (micro)weddings and events as early as September 2023 and will likely be putting out some bonus floral offerings as well... so stay tuned!

Please spread the word to your flower-loving people and future newlyweds in the Chicagoland area to help me get this ship moving! Thanks <3

New Work | May 2023

Click the image to view my new Eclipse series of Charcoal Collages.

These drawings were an experiment in scaling up from the charcoal collages I made in 2020. I began with a couple of physical and meditative drawing sessions, working off of a 4' roll of paper. They were a sort of yoga-with-charcoal approach that I would love to turn into a class someday. I thoroughly enjoy how the initial energetic marks became the support for the juxtaposition of shape in the final pieces.

I titled this series after the three most recent eclipses (November 2022, April 2023, and May 2023). An eclipse is, by definition, the total or partial obscuring of one celestial body by another (Merriam Webster), or in this case, the obscuring of light (our Sun) from our perspective on Earth.

When working in black and white I naturally regard value as positive and negative and enjoy the play on this astronomical theme as I imagine the darks and lights each blocking out the other in turn; a celestial dance.

Lindsey Claire Newman's deceptively simple mixed-media collages reflect complex themes of time, creation, deconstruction, and motherhood. Through expressive textures and layered fields of color, Newman's works are physical meditations on personal experiences that speak a universal language. In her recent work, Newman celebrates the impulsive, insistent need to create -- an approach to making inspired by working alongside her children.
