We Are Still Here

This series was created in January and February of 2021. These collages were made daily, for thirty days, in the spirit of repetition and exploration. Collage was my preferred method of creation through most of my time in art school and this project started with the intention of revisiting my past ways of making work and generally shaking things up. The majority of these pieces contain colors and bits from a stack of my maternal grandmother’s 1970’s art magazines that I was given at this time.

The words We Are Still Here became my mantra as I leaned hard into my creative practice for support as I simultaneously processed the shifts in the world around me and parented my then-four-year-old through the short days of our first Michigan Winter.
